Meet Agent Double-O S.O.U.L.

Agent Double-O S.O.U.L. (aka Kenneth Hylbak, pronounced HILL-bock) loved the radio when he was growing up. He listened avidly for many hours and paid close attention to what was played. After growing up, he found himself hosting a radio show at a college FM station. He was in his element at last, and he found that he was in his glory. It was a revelation- an epiphany. He knew he was destined to do this. His radio show consumed his thoughts for hours each day of the week. He prepared for his two- hour show for days at a time before the scheduled day of broadcast.

The DJ

Actually, he had prepared for this moment of glory his entire life. He had worked in record stores and record warehouses for years, tutoring himself about the fascinating world of popular music and record collecting lore as he went along. He had spent many an hour of his spare time reading the music press, musical biographies, and critical reviews and essays. He had done a bit of published music criticism himself, all the while amassing a huge record collection. He had been a music major in college as well, learning to play several instruments, studying music theory, and voice. About 25 years ago, a friend showed Agent Double-O S.O.U.L. how to crossfade records between two Techniques turntables with a mixer. Here was another revelation, and a couple of years later Agent Double-O S.O.U.L. finally got his chance to spin records in front of a live audience in a nightclub. He found that he liked the immediacy of public performance.

From that moment on, Agent Double-O S.O.U.L. has been appearing in front of countless audiences in numerous nightclubs, wedding receptions, private parties, fundraising events, corporate events, and assorted social occasions. He enjoys turning people on with his discoveries, and he also enjoys the interaction with an audience of happy listeners and dancers. Agent Double-O S.O.U.L. continues to do extensive music research on a daily basis in his spare time. When asked why he devotes so much of his life to the pursuit of new sounds, he replied, "Because it's fun." The dedicated agent hosts a dance event, "SHAKE!", at Cafe Racer in Seattle's University District on the third Saturday of every month..
